The Air Jordan 22 (XX2 or XXII) - Black / Varsity Red - Metallic Silver were released on April 7, 2007, and retailed for $175. They feature a black suede upper with silver and red accents, as well as a red inner lining. The inspiration behind these is the ultra fast F-22 Fighter Jet. Many of the obvious similarities can be seen in the sleek, sharp aerodynamic cuts on the sneaker, which on the plane, allow it to cut through the air like ice.They feature zig-zag stitching similar to that of the F-22 which [in the air]helps conceal the jet from enemy radar. On the shoes, this stitching helps provide a well produced  shoe with lasting quality. Also, they feature chrome accents throughout, especially on the heel area. The shoe boasts the best ankle history of any Air Jordan to date. The variable speed lacing system coupled with titanium lace loops as well as a durable titanium lace lock allow a comfortable yet tight enough fit that they shoe stays on your foot. Also, the  Air Jordan 22 (XXII) has air vents like the F-22 which  provide an escape for heat. The heel on the Air Jordan XX2 is like no other. The diamond shape and extended heel counter protects even the most vulnerable athlete from a rolled heel. The cushioning system includes the previously seen IPS (Independent Podular Suspension) but with a new feature - it’s visible, so the user is able to choose his cushioning for each pod with either a responsive, double stacked Zoom Air pod, or a shock absorbing encapsulated air. Other specifications include a Phylon midsole to provide extra cushioning without making the shoe bulky or heavier.
